Hope you don't mind the critique but I can't help myself. You're in that in between place with your CG and coloring skills that I want to help push.

So, it looks like you did one of those brightness/contrast things to your lovely lineart, and completely destroyed it. Your lines were fine to begin with, a multiple layer of the lines over it would have given you a better result. That said, I wouldn't have bothered darkening the lines so much to begin with. You created an absolute black with them, immediately flattening your character from the dimensional being it was before. You don't need black to separate your figure from the background, it only makes the two seem completely out of place.

Color is fairly well executed (it looks like you added some filters at the end to raise the contrast- the saturation is rather high) You do have issue with keeping within the lines, so to speak. I think the brush you were using was too large, or you were going for a blurry effect (not good with such a potential character) because you got little to no definition in her. Feel free to enlarge your image when coloring to get the detail it deserves. The tail has the best work going for it, the rest of the character deserves the same work (skin, clothes, hair, etc.) Your lines create a shape of your character, but you need to follow up with definition with shadows and highlights to keep that shape going. That means having a consistent light source and knowing how the shadows should wrap around your character.

Bleed into the background. A good trick is to flatten your finished character- if it's not on it's own layer, raise it to one- and cut a clear outline around that sucker before putting a background on behind it. A dark/bright color underneath the layer while you're cutting the colors that have gone over the edge will help you see what you're doing so you don't have that unfortunate bleed into the background.

This is no way a ego thing, but if you want to see some coloring tips I have done some tutorials you might want to check out. You have great line work and it's only natural you want to go that next step into shade and color. [link]
